Design Director NY
Born in Melbourne, Australia, Daniel studied at the National School of Design at Swinburne University where he received a BA (Hons). Upon graduation he commenced work at Melbourne-based Fabio Ongarato Design where he remained for 5 years, in 2012, in need of a change of scenery, he emigrated to New York. Prior to Base he worked at 2×4 and Noë & Associates where he worked with a variety of clients and collaborators including The Broad Foundation, Coca-Cola, Culture Shed, Design Within Reach, Novartis, Pérez Art Museum Miami and Surface Magazine.
Daniel believes all great work is grounded in conceptual thinking and begins with relationships established through dialogue. His work aims to engage emotionally and intellectually through a synthesis of investigation and chance. He has taught courses, lectured and led workshops at his alma mater, and is a frequent design and thesis critic at Columbia University and Parsons The New School for Design. He continues to work with cultural institutions back home and maintains a (semi)regular output of self-initiated projects.
