Base Becomes B Corp
A B Corporation is a business that balances purpose and profit, and one is legally required to consider the impact of its decisions on employees, customers, suppliers, the community, and the environment.
To all of us at Base, it means much more than a certification.
It enables us to reassure our collaborators that they're partnering with a company dedicated to operating with integrity.
B Corp is an instrument for reflecting upon how we carry out our daily business operations, prioritizing mindfulness, and providing our collective of creatives with a sensible and meaningful structure that goes beyond branding, communications, and design.
Many of Base's values align with those of B Corp, driven by beliefs that complement each other. By regularly questioning our internal organization, our studio culture promotes an adaptable manner of working. We're anchored in our community, collaborating with both local and international brands and institutions of all sizes, spanning diverse sectors from corporate to culture to NGOs. We've also committed to taking on one pro-bono project annually for meaningful causes for the past few years.
The certification embodies our commitment to our customers and partners by delivering more than an end result and earnestly evaluating our process. We desire to involve our Basers and clients in this approach, motivate us to improve, and align us on this mission for positive change.
Concretely, we've worked to cultivate an environment and practices that reflect our values. B Corp encourages us to aim higher. By giving us a proper structure to go further, we have established an internal Diversity & Inclusion Taskforce, conducted a carbon footprint audit with Tapio, and implemented policies to promote employee health and wellness.
Since obtaining B Corp certification in January 2024, we committed to expanding our efforts. We pledge to engage in local community volunteering and transition most of our office supplies to sustainable sources, aiming for at least 50% from committed suppliers.
While our Brussels and New York studios have received this certification, our Geneva and Melbourne studios are next in line to pursue similar initiatives to join the B Corp community.
We’re proud to join the movement. Along with our clients, partners, and suppliers, our goal is to belong to something bigger than Base. Receiving the B Corp certification has been a transformative journey for us, and it has only just begun.
