For 15 years, Base New York operated out of a loft in Soho. Due to the sale of the building (shockingly, for conversion into condos) Base New York moved in September into its very own house at 13 South William St in the Financial District.
The new office, located on one of the oldest streets in New York just steps from Wall St, was constructed in the mid-1800’s. Base worked closely with Meshberg Group to renovate the building from top to bottom and transform it into a modern studio divided between the more public facing floor and conference rooms, and the private studio space located on the upper floor. The rooftop, with its views of Manhattan, has also proven to be a favorite spot at break time.
Base is not the only creative office that has decided to make the move to the tip of the island. Neighbors now include pal Winka Dubbeldam’s Archi-tectonics, Condé Nast, Bjarke Ingels’ BIG Architects, Droga 5, Melk, SS+K, and Local Projects, among others.
The opening of the studio was celebrated with a housewarming party on October 17th, the Base way, with family, friends, and Belgian beer. Please come and visit Chateau Base if you find ever find yourself down our way.
